PROJECT SUBMISSION

What is a Project Submission?

This is a series combining photographs and poems, presented with a holistic intention. It can be the work of a single creator or the collaboration of a photographer and a poet. There should be no more than two creators for a Project submission. Light will typically publish no more than one Project in an issue. This type of submission will be a feature section that will be prefaced with an editorial introduction.

A Project should be a complete work, synthesizing excellent photos and poetry. We judge Project submissions by the most demanding standards. We want to be able to showcase Projects as exemplars of the visual-textual art Light promotes.

Photography Requirements:
Black and White photography is preferred, though color will be considered.  Images must be a minimum of 10" at the longest side with a resolution of 300dpi in JPEG format.  Your photographs must comply with these standards for us to print them.

Poetry Requirements:
Poems may be multi-page: be sure to identify how many pages you anticipate each poem requires. We cannot print more than ten combined pages of your poetry in a Project.

Submit your Project: Because fully realized Projects combine photography and text, we will allow some latitude in the format that Projects are submitted.

In order to show how your Project works as an ordered, fully formatted sequence, you can submit the Project as a .pdf file. Remember that Projects are judged most stringently.

Whether or not you send a .pdf, you must send a .zip file containing the 300dpi photo images.

With the .zip file, attach a document file containing the poems that accompany your images. Put all poems in a single document file in order. Include biographical statements for the contributor(s). Be sure to provide an artist's description of how you see the Project as a complete work. You can also describe how the Project developed.

Be sure include in your document a structured map that describes the proposed order of the images and text pieces. This map or plan of the work is crucial. A .pdf can suggest how you see the full Project working, but the structured map will be the guide we refer to in putting the pieces of your Project together in Light
